Flow Assurance Engineer

Applies specialist knowledge and experience to assignments where issues and factors to be considered may be characterized by unusual demands and require additional analysis to determine the nature and scope of the problem.

KNOWLEDGE, EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS REQUIRED TO CARRY OUT THE JOB

-Technical Knowledge, Years of Related Experience, Certifications Required, Equipment and/or Systems Experience

-BS in Chemical / Petroleum / Mechanical Engineering required. PE preferred.

-Specialist knowledge of fluid behavior, solids management, multiphase flow discipline and general knowledge of other disciplines.

-Working knowledge of alternative designs.

-Solid understanding of internal economic factors affecting assignment areas costs, margins, profit impact of decisions.

-Demonstrated ability to apply advanced laws, principles, theorems and mathematics or industry knowledge in the improvement and development of designs.

-Demonstrated ability to independently create functional and cost effective designs/processes that meet complex specification requirements.

-Minimum seven years relevant experience in assigned technical field.

-Advanced computer skills with MS Office programs.

-Must be proficient in use of hydraulics software like PIPESIM, OLGA, SPS, HYSYS and PVTSIM

-Demonstrates good organization and project planning skills.

-Oral and written communication skills with good vocabulary, good grammar and the ability to independently compose routine written communications.

-Demonstrated skills in persuasion, negotiation, motivation and communication.

-Ability to prepare accurate, effective, complete and easily understood written communications and reports.

-Demonstrates strong internal presentation skills.

-Ability to work in a team environment and willingness to assume additional or new responsibilities readily.

-Demonstrates proficiency in mentoring and project planning.

-Ability to maintain regular attendance as per work schedule agreed with manager.

-Ability to comply with applicable laws and regulations, the Companys Code of Business Conduct and other Company policies and procedures.
Creates drawings, specifications, etc. of existing technology or applications and ensures that assignments meet standards and performance requirements within area of expertise.

-Assists and/or checks the work of less experienced engineers. 10

-Provides high level technical interface between customer, engineering and sub-contractors to determine root-cause of problems and to develop effective solutions. 15

-Participates in developing deadlines, projects and work to be done.

-Defines project engineering schedule.

-Develops project cost estimates. 5

-Prepares documentation, information, communications and engineering specifications and ensures conformance to all policies and procedures related to engineering functions, labor reporting and systems reporting. 5

-Conducts analysis, ensures that designs are workable, makes recommendations and develops alternative solutions with conclusions reviewed by higher levels. 25

-Consults with other departments on equipment designs, problems and questions.

-May travel occasionally to field sites to assist with product related problems or to obtain application data. 5

-Tests and evaluates prototypes and models to determine design limits and needed improvements.

-Prepares test reports and closure reports on assignments. 15

-Prepares reports, correspondence, procedures, specifications and technical calculations.

-Prepares technical data and papers for sales personnel, customers and publications using good internal presentation and report writing skills. 20

SPECIFIC ACTIVITIES INTERMITTENT, ON AN OCCASIONAL BASIS, ETC.

-Performs other duties as assigned.

-May organize and lead teams using multi-disciplinary and matrix management techniques.

-Participates in developing deadlines, projects and work to be done.

-Assignments cover broad and complex subject matter where issues and factors may be characterized by unusual demands and require additional analysis to determine the nature and scope of the problem.

-Designs and executes novel procedures where no precedent may exist, under tight time/ cost constraints, and/or to utilize new techniques or methods.

-Obtains Patents where appropriate.

-Regularly functions as a technical leader or significant contributor to a major complex problems and/or project.

-Consistently called on to use creativity and independent judgement to formulate results based on principles, experience and constructive thinking.

-Develops unique solutions for complex technical problems. Leads problem solving in the area of expertise.

-Anticipates potential problems, proactively solves complex problems through creative thinking and creative use of internal/external resources both inside and outside of discipline expertise.

-Anticipates potential problems and takes preventative actions.

-Brings multiple solutions to complex problems to the table.

-Initiative: Describe the ingenuity, creative imagination or original thought that is expected of the job.

-Acts to prevent conditions from getting out of hand or to resolve an issue as they see fit and report immediately.

-Is preauthorized to cope with issues and then report the results of their actions right away.

-Ensures that assignments meet specifications, standards and performance requirements within area of expertise.

-Overall project performance is reviewed and evaluated.

-Reviews the work of others to ensure technical accuracy and compliance with instructions and established procedures.

-Errors may have significant impact on project schedule and costs.

INTERPERSONAL / COMMUNICATIONS

-Indicate internal and external contacts and purpose of contacts.

-Interfaces with technical professionals including designers, developers, contractors and clients, inside and outside of the local organization.

-Often required to persuade individuals with differing opinions or interest to change criteria or methods, accept findings or reach agreement on technical points.

-Solicits understanding and support of managers for major projects and uses available technical resources.

-Sponsors projects to higher management.

-Fosters commitment in the face of major obstacles.

-Meets with client and effectively presents information to client.

WORK ENVIRONMENT AND DEMANDS

Work Environment: Spends 90 of time in an office environment. 10 of time to be traveling to the client site.

-Is occasionally required to stand, walk and stoop, kneel, or crouch.

-Must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.
