Senior Quality Assurance Specialist

Great Payrate, plus per diem on top of pay rate!!

POSITION SUMMARY: Provides expert support to the QAM regarding quality process management, quality assurance, supply chain management, project support and assessments. Incumbent maintains professional and supportive relationships with external and internal clients.

BACKGROUND:
Quality assurance involves a planned, systematic approach designed to provide adequate confidence that products will conform to established requirements throughout the products life cycle.
Characteristic of all quality assurance programs are three basic principles:
1.Final responsibility for quality rests with the organizations that design, develop, produce, maintain, store, and issue the product. Quality assurance supports these activities by ensuring that adequate quality provisions are planned, developed, and implemented.

2.Quality cannot be "inspected" into the finished product. Quality assurance focuses its activities on the identification, prevention, and correction of unsatisfactory conditions or elements which influence acceptability of the end product.

3.Quality is defined in terms of specific requirements to be met. Such requirements must be effectively communicated to and understood by those whose activities may, in any way, influence the quality of the product in terms of its use, interchangeability, form, fit, function, or safety.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Administers and maintains quality assurance programs, plans and procedures.

-Reviews guidelines and evaluates supplier quality assurance plans and procedures for compliance with source document and contract requirements.

-Plans, schedules, and conducts assessments, i.e., audits, surveys, inspections, surveillance by:
-Reviewing technical specifications and requirements, Reviewing inspection and test plans, Reviewing quality control procedures, Conducting quality assurance audits, inspections, and surveillance activities, Preparing and distributing audit reports, and Verifying the successful resolution and closure of all observations and findings identified.

-Reviews and evaluates contractor and vendor activities, products, and reports by evaluating contractor submittals program activities, products, and reports for adherence to project specifications.

-Identifies nonconforming and deficient products and processes by:

-Reviewing technical specifications, drawings, submittals, and procedures, Inspecting and examining work products, Auditing contractors and suppliers, Documenting nonconforming products, Verifying supplier corrective action implementation, and Ensuring the successful resolution and closure of all issues.

-Reviews contract drawings and technical specifications by:

Reviewing and editing documents, Ensuring adherence to project specifications and current design criteria, and Examining the content of technical specification for inclusion of applicable codes, standards and requirements.

-Performs document control program assessments to support corporate and project-specific needs.

-Conducts assessments of quality records program to verify conformance with quality requirements.

-Develops policies, plans and procedures under the broad direction of the QAM.

-Utilizes a variety of administrative, analytical, and technical methods and techniques to ensure the quality and reliability of products.

-Evaluates objective evidence to determine the effectiveness of quality procedures and controls.

-Identifies potential problem areas or inherent weaknesses in work processes which serve as a basis for adjusting surveillance or management controls.

-Determines conformance of work products to drawings and/or technical specifications, reports deviations encountered and their probable causes.

-Interfaces with ENG Project Manager on quality-related matters involving the enterprise management tool and quality records repository.

-Maintains confidentiality of all corporate and project-specific matters.

-Performs other duties as assigned.

MINIMUM SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS:
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and ability required:

Education: Bachelorâs degree required in a technical field or equivalent educational and work relevance.

Experience: Twenty years of applied quality assurance experience desired.

Experience working in an engineering or technical field preferred.

Basic Job Skills and Underlying Knowledge: Includes skill in interpreting technical data, data analysis, report writing, interpreting regulations and other guideline material; dealing with other individuals; and a practical understanding of the role of quality process management in relation to the design development mission of the organization.

These skills and knowledge are applied in performing assignments involving an advanced understanding of quality assurance procedures and techniques, pertinent regulations and program requirements, quality characteristics of the product involved, and design development processes and techniques.

Overall Job Knowledge and Performance:

PERFORMANCE EVALUTATIONS:
Performance Evaluations will be conducted at least annually to determine how well the employee performed his/her essential duties and to measure overall performance in the areas listed above.
