Job Description
Our client, an energy resources and complex process industry, seeks a Chief Process Engineer, HOB.

Responsibilities include:

- A Chief Process Engineer is qualified to serve as the Process Manager of a Major Project,
defined as one which requires two or more Area Leads and twenty or more process engineers.
Chief Process Engineers should be adept at working on either Front End Engineering Projects
that start with conceptual engineering to produce Process Flow Diagrams (PFDs) or Detailing
Engineering Projects that produce Piping and Instrumentation Diagrams (P&IDs) as the
primary deliverables.
-Chief Process Engineers are adept at utilizing process engineering computer software tools and following design procedures and should be able to direct others in the use of such tools. This position requires an excellent working knowledge of pertinent regulations, standards, codes and design practices.
- Chief Process Engineers must have outstanding communication, technical and interpersonal
skills in order to interact with Client Representatives, Project Management, Engineering
Discipline Leads, Project Auxiliary Support Staff (Project Controllers, Schedulers, Estimators,
etc.), Process Area Leads and supporting Process Engineers.

Requirements include:

- Chief Process Engineers must have outstanding organizational skills so as to direct and guide others in project execution.
- During project execution Chief Process Engineers strive to maintain schedules and budgets
while ensuring that all deliverables meet quality requirements. A willingness to travel for the
company's business is expected. Chief Process Engineers may occasionally serve as technical consultants.

- Develops the scope of work, design criteria, budget, and schedule for the project.
- Defines staffing requirements, standards and procedures for project assignments.
- Determines the need for technical staff assistance and makes recommendations to
engage consultants.
- Directs Process Activities for the project in accordance with Project Management’s
Project Execution Plan.
- Acts as primary liaison with Client’s Process Lead.
- Acts as the primary Process interface with Project and Engineering Management on the
project.
- Makes staffing assignments.
- Conducts or participates in performance evaluations on support engineers.
- Provides guidance and mentoring to less-experienced engineers.
- Provides the managerial and technical direction to Area Leads and support engineers
assigned to the project.
- Ensures that all Process deliverables are reviewed and checked according to
Company and Client standards as well as applicable regulations, codes,
standards and design practices.
- Ensures that work produced is properly coordinated with the needs of the project and
the customer.
- Keeps Department and Project Management appraised of technical problems, staffing
requirements, scope changes or other events which could affect project completion or
project profitability.
- Technically approves supplier quotations, bid evaluations and supplier drawings for
equipment designed by Process Engineering or equipment and machinery that could
have a major influence on the operability of the process.
-Approves comparisons of equipment or process configurations involving differential
operating costs and capital expenditure.
- Represents Company's Process Technology at sales presentations and assists
Business Development personnel in the development of proposals.
- Maintains affiliation with professional societies to keep abreast of current technology.
- Represents company at seminars and conferences. Prepares and presents
technical papers as required.
- Serves as technical consultant during the preparation of operating and training manuals.
- Serves as ProcessTechnology Department representative during performance test runs.
- Participates in the development of company's licensed technologies or proprietary
process designs, design methodologies or computer programs.
- Seals and signs documents with a Professional Engineering stamp if necessary.
- Participates in Hazard and Operability Reviews.
- Conducts scoping studies for front end engineering development.
- Performs other responsibilities associated with the position as may be appropriate.
